Ever since my first job working in a hospital, I’ve known I had a passion for helping people. That passion has
grown immensely over the 3 years that I’ve been helping people with Primary Periodic Paralysis (PPP). Advocating
for you is my top priority! I’m excited to continue my mission of bettering the lives of patients and their caregivers.

Valerie

I have always been interested in work that helps others and makes a positive impact. What inspires me is seeing the community we serve get up each day and strive to succeed, despite all the adversities they face. They simply do not give up. Knowing that I can assist them overcome some of the challenges they encounter motivates me to put my best in every day.

I firmly believe in the powers of compassion and empathy, and this drives my dedication to advocate for patients with Primary Periodic Paralysis. Each day I witness the resilient spirit that patients and their families exhibit in the face of PPP. Their strength, combined with knowing that every action I take makes a meaningful difference in their lives, fuels my passion for advocacy and support.

My entire professional career has been in roles where I help people who need support to improve areas of their lives. Working for Xeris allows me to help the PPP patient population in this way as well. Working with patients and learning about the day-to-day experience of living with PPP is a constant source of inspiration for me. Advocating for you is my top priority!

My best friend died because he did not get the diagnosis or prescribed medication he needed in a timely fashion. I promised him that his death would not be in vain and that I would do something to honor him. While my friend did not have PPP, making good on the promise to my friend brings me joy as I help PPP patients in their journey of starting and staying on treatment.
